Kodak carousel slide projector

Can any of you lovely people suggest where I might find a Kodak carousel 35mm slide projector to buy (must in fully working order and make all the cool noises :-))?   And for bonus marks, do you know if replacement bulbs can still be obtained?

Thanks ever so!

Greg

Seems to be a few being advertised on there according to Google, and also lamps……

Osram still produce halogen projector bulbs but it's possible they don't do it for all models of the Carousel.

Thanks guys, since posting I've been doing a bit of armchair research.  There are of course dozens of versions covering several decades (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carousel_slide_projector list some of them) a few of which are available on ebay/etsy.  I really do need one that makes those famously evocative noises (it's a long story...) so if anyone can give me specific pointers to a good choice in this respect (or even has a suitable one that they would like to sell!) I would love to hear from you :-).

See if any camera clubs still have one in a locker. Local schools might still have one.

There's a tiny chance, I might have a KODAK Carousel S-AV 2050 Slide Projector, in the back of a cupboard somewhere.

I can't promise, but I'll have a look tomorrow morning.

They are surprisingly heavy. So, wherever you find one, don't expect the postage to be cheap.

No idea about bulbs, sorry.

I'll get back to you.

Yep -- it's a truly iconic product, they sold tens of millions of them in total. I would have thought any of the models spanning the late eighties to early 90s will be really common on eBay, and should be pretty robust.

There is something really special about the sound a Carousel makes when it switches slides. It's a narrative device in itself -- think of the number of dramas where a horrific plot point or emotional moment is established by a scene with a pause in dialogue, a series of slides and the sound of the carousel clicking forward.

I hope you get a good one and you love it!

I instantly thought of the opening scene in Get Carter.

If you just need the sound...

I went back to check and there's even one of these moments in the episode of Mad Men at the end of Don Draper pitching the idea of calling it the Kodak Carousel (because of course there is, Mad Men is cinematic art):

I have two Kodak Carousels in cases, but different models, along with multiple pairs of lenses, plus many slide carriers & spare bulbs etc.. Full working order when last used.  All needs to go in one lot, but would need collection from Highlands. PM me if interested.

The main industry workhorse was the SAV 2050. Very expensive then (like many things Kodak). I still have my set of registered GP triple stack lineup slides.
