I've always found it difficult finding models that I think I am capable of shooting and it is at the moment, no easier nor more difficult than previously..

I'm not on Instagram or such.

The young fashion models of today dont look at sites like this, its all about Instagram and Snap chat etc etc..all about the moment, getting known and doing it tomorrow, not months in advance. I think this is the case all over.

Orson Carter you seem to often use your experiences as an indicator of everyones experiences which isn't the case in general (certainly from what I've seen at least).

Judging by comments on social media there seems to be more people (models and photographers) who are struggling to find like minded people than not and more people than not who find this and other modelling sites very quiet.

I appreciate you arnt on social media so can't see this but surely you can appreciate the quietness of this site and modelfolio to what they were even a year ago? The difference is reasonably marked in my opinion and it's sad to see for modelling / photography in general.

Orson Carter to be fair my experience of gossip is fairly limited as I'm not in any modelling / photography groups on social media which is where most of the gossipy type stuff happens so I am limited to just what comes up in my newsfeed on Facebook but I've seen enough to think that models who were doing well a few years back, are not anymore and photographers who had alot of enthusiasm and shooting alot, are not anymore. That is particularly evident in York where quite a few prolific shooters have stopped completely unfortunately.

Luckily now that I am old I’ve moved so I can continue my modelling

Hahaha! :D I mean honestly wouldn't you be better off making quilts or knitting? It could be time to think about slowing down. ;-)

JamesMt142 you don't come here for the hunting, do you?

Orson Carter this is true, models may not post in the forums but they read them, and one thing they will avoid is someone who clearly hates women

Fundamentally of course there is something causing younger models who work at your levels joining Purpleport: it is that they can make more money, probably more safely, on OnlyFans. And IMO there's something causing models to drop out quicker: cost of living making freelance work riskier.

But as others have observed, there are enough active models here -- even in the uncharted, sparsely populated, agrarian regions of the Midlands -- to keep a photographer more than busy enough.

I don't want to join a pile-on but I do echo those who are saying you might want to consider this from the opposite perspective

And I didn't come here for a pile-on.

All that's been needed to be said has been said I think, so I wonder Mods, can we lock this one now?

There's a beautiful model from Leicester who I wanted to shoot and may still do sometime. Looking at your references I question why she's not on them since you are not far off her.

Photographers should realise that the forum in a sense is politics and politics is not always nice , when some read it they won't like what they see just like real world politics. Also some people online easily misread things as something else. Keep the politics nice and at a certain ratio and things stay alright.
