Fast Wireless Video transfer (Android to MacBook Pro)

Everyone,

I am trying to wirelessly transfer video footage from my Samsung Android phone to my MacBook Pro for editing. When I use my iPhone, I can take advantage of AirDrop on the Mac and transfer very large video files almost instantly.

But from the Samsung, this is much , much slower. I have tried using the Airdroid application. This is much slower than the AirDrop application (averaging out at 1MB per second) and if the video file is more than 1GB in size, Airdroid fails / connection drops after around 1GB.

I have tried saving the file from my Android phone to my Google Drive. This works reliably , but is very VERY slow.

Does anyone know of the reliable alternative software to do this. NB I am OK to use a cable to connect if need be.

Sync from Samsung to OneDrive, and have your Mac also Sync to OneDrive. May take a while, but will show up on your Mac.

USB transfer from Android to Mac is difficult in my experience. Install Parallels and run Windows on it. Sync from Android to Virtual PC with a cable, then move the file to the Mac side.

A standard Wifi connection will barely go to 100 Mbit/s (which is already good for a Wifi 5 expensive and well architectured setup) if your access point is very close from both of your devices.

I use a usb c to usb port then plug in a usb stick and file transfer. I also just plug in using usb c to usb c to my Mac and drag and drop. I found all other ways to be completely unworkable and these are the only two that work for me even though it’s a temperamental process from time to time
