Helen's Story

This is project documents Helen's life living with epilepsy. The story is told by a series of photographic portraits accompanied by extracts from her diary.
Our project documents one year of Helen living with epilepsy. To tell her story, a series of photographic portraits are accompanied by extracts from Helen’s personal diary.
Impaired speech, confusion, paralysis, chronic fatigue, the impact emotions can have on the brain & the body. Pain, suffering, love & hope, this is a document of one person learning to cope and endeavouring to live life with a much unknown & misunderstood condition.

This is the story of one person’s life with epilepsy in her own words & photographed by her partner at the time, Matt Thompson.

Helen's Story was the cover story for The Observer New Review in March and was featured on the Guardian website. Soon to be Exhibited
