Victorian Gothic Vs Gothic Victorian?

This is an idea I like playing with. What is Victorian-Gothic? Often it refers to the Gothic revival architecture of Victorian times. The Victorian Gothic architecture was not a continuation of the Gothic style. It was a nostalgic look into the past. The Victorians put "quaint" elements of Gothic architecture into their homes and built follies (fake romantic ruins). Now we have a Gothic fashion subculture that, can use fanciful pieces of Victoriana. Could this be more fanciful nostalgia? It seems like things have come round in a circle.
