I'm Dan Mackenzie, a professional lifestyle photographer based in the Cotswolds, UK. While my bag is almost always packed and ready to go at a moment's notice for adventurous commercial opportunities abroad, I am primarily here to network and collaborate with like-minded creatives both locally and throughout the UK. For full transparency, I am on PurplePort to connect with talented, passionate individuals—experienced and amateur models, photographers, stylists, and makeup artists (MUAs)— for creative and collaborative TFP shoots, unless specified otherwise.

My primary interest and intention here is to engage with the creative PurplePort community for Time for Print (TFP) projects. These collaborations are an excellent opportunity for everyone involved to contribute to the creative direction, concepts, and themes, helping us to expand and enhance our experience, portfolios, and creative networks. Commercial Projects

I earn my living shooting lifestyle images for brands. On these occasions, I may need to book professional models and other creatives depending on the client brief. This is the only circumstance under which I consider paying a model for their time and talent. Please note, if you have a low-quality portfolio, lack references or obvious experience, yet ask for payment, a reality check might be needed. As per industry standards, for paid assignments involving models, the arrangement regarding image rights will be subject to the brand's contract, and typically, images will not be shared beyond the contractual obligations.

 

Photography Gear

I primarily shoot using a professional full-frame Nikon digital camera body complemented by Sigma Art 35mm and 50mm prime lenses, capturing crisp and vibrant images. Additionally, I cherish the authentic feel of analog film photography, utilizing a Nikon F4s with a NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4 for professional 35mm shots and a Mamiya RB67 for medium format photography. This diverse arsenal allows me to produce a wide range of high-quality images that are both modern and timelessly classic.
