Christmas looses its magic when children loose their innocence, and their belief in Mr Claus becomes dashed, as someone let’s it slip that Santa is just a story.... he isn’t real and it’s the family that provide the presents.. but parents still get their children to write letters to Santa, sometimes even without reading what their children want from their childhood hero, and we buy for buying sake... Christmas has become a season of spending money, and children judging the value of their quality Christmas, on how much money their parents spent, not the quality time they spent with friends and family. We only value this when we grow up, Christmas is commercialised and children expect so much, but for some families, they can’t afford lavish gifts, and Christmas is then ruined. Here, Santa is reading the letters from the good & naughty boys and girls, in dismay of how extensive and costly their lists have become, and saddened on how many children no longer believe he exists. Pip played a phenomenal part throughout the shoot, he was a great sad Santa.
