I had a great first shoot with Rod recently  polite, professional, and a great photographer. The pre-comms were great and pictures look very cool.

I feel very confortable.

We got through a few looks, and it was a very relaxed shoot, there was a good balance of direction and letting me flow through poses. ROD showed me some shots occasionally on the back of the camera which is always good, and I look forward to seeing the final shots.100% recommend

Absolutely amazing to work with!

Made myself and my partner feel so comfortable.

and finding the location was easy enough as rod gave me plenty of details and information on where to go the apartment was very spacious and I enjoyed the vibe of the room the whole shoot

I will 100% go back to rod when I can get a chance again to do more photoshoots

And to find more beautiful locations of Edinburgh

Working with Rod never disappoints! In every shoot we’ve had we have bounced off each other and created some really stunning shots (some of my favourite stuff produced when touring Scotland over the years!) And after a rocky couple of years for creatives; I was so very excited to be finally doing a tour of the beautiful North like I used to once again - and I mean 2 week minimum ambitious road trips! 🤣 I was further buzzing when Rod confirmed that he was around on the dates I was passing Edinburgh this time - because we literally haven’t shot for 6 million years and he’s uber cool to catch up with! ☺️

Edinburgh was one of the first stops of my trip: and believe it or not... I was actually winging a lot of my travels because I hadn’t had the usual time to sit down calmly in the weeks before and plan carefully due to having two other mad trips just before I came out, plus a whole bunch of other carnage! 🤣 In my mind: I was almost thinking this could be a little weekender in Scotland’s capital and leave it at that - but I’ll be honest, when things started coming together and amazing humans like Rod offered so much support in not only a shoot; but also accommodation for multiple days - it built up that confidence to do mammoth tours again. 🤩 Rod has actually hosted me several times in the past; and I’ve always enjoyed the social aspect of hanging out with him and felt totally comfortable at his. It’s a brilliant thing for touring models to have a safe base like this when shooting in somewhere like a big city: Rod even had the benefit of private parking at his so I didn’t need to sell my soul to leave my car in hefty parking areas. 🙈 But I’ve come by train plenty of times in the past as well, and he’s literally two minutes from Haymarket station which is so handy for models who don’t drive! We did our shoot (which was amazeballs!) and then he kindly continued to offer exceptional hospitality whilst I fit in other local shoots in the area. What a star! He is probably secretly really grossed out by my weird tea drinking habits though. 😂

During our shoot; we covered a fabulous range of looks (totally different to things we’ve shot before, and then revisiting ideas/genres too!) Rod has the cleverest studio setup at his place which gives him the best of all worlds: a controlled light studio with all the backgrounds and lighting he needs to manufacture the studio vibe, plus gorgeous natural light just a curtain-draw away that floods in on demand! 😃 He knows his stuff off to a tee and balanced everything so beautifully, he ain’t afraid of experimenting with angles either - and had the resources to introduce furniture/props to the set where it either adds to the picture or provides a practical purpose (like a platform to shoot bodyscapes for example). He’s a great thinker, and a very credible photographer... I’m still to post some of the magical shots Rod kindly sent over to me after editing - but I really wanted to get his reference done first! 😄

Naturally: we did not stop chatting during my time at Rod’s! 😆 Lots to make up for with not shooting together for a while, and all the essential laughs are basically mandatory for good industry atmospheres anyway! 😊 Despite this; Rod let me come and go/do my own own thing when I had all my other bits and pieces to do - he knows the drill that models are snowed under when they travel, so if you need an hour to get through emails/your daily fitness you won’t feel bad for thinking you’re being antisocial with this guy. He’s very nice and understanding. ☺️ Completely professional/respectful as both a photographer, AND a host... I cannot recommend him enough!

Until next time Rod! Thank you ever so much for everything. 🙌

Rod booked me for a 4hr studio shoot on my Scotland tour

Pre comms were great- clear and efficient

The shoot itself went well - he works fast and we got through plenty of outfits

He was open to my ideas for shooting in different areas and I was allowed to pose freely and at will

He has a pleasant and chatty professional nature and is very easy to work with

Highly recommended

One more belting shoot to add to the list of so many other completely wicked sessions working with this awesome guy! :D Each shoot produces something a little different: The focus on concepts might overlap from what we've had mega success creating before but then the inspiration flows and totally new images come flying out! I would be tempted to say that the images produced with Rod get stronger and stronger each time, but then I look back; some of the earlier stuff we did is still insanely good too! Rod is a seriously good photographer and harnesses so many effective lighting methods at his home studio with a mix of natural light and flash... When you've got the eye for it, you can do amazing things. Nuff' said! :)

When in the shooting zone, Rod can put his vision so all sorts of styles - it's common place for us now to bag some fashion and portrait stuff to start and then try some sculptural/artistic nudes later. But it doesn't matter whether the style of choice at a given moment is focusing on face, styling or body shapes - Rod is an outstandingly versatile photographer who always works to bring out the best in a shot. If a shot benefits from getting an interesting angle going then Rod is on it, he will take the time to make the ;lighting spot on rather than just shoot away... It really takes some cracking multitasking talents really to think of all this in the split second that a pose has been formed by the model! Rod again was so completely generous and sent me some edits after the shoot, despite having a big trip himself to prep for! The moment when you open a Dropbox folder/email and recall the fantastic images in the full-size glory is just such a rush! Doesn't matter how many shoots you do a month, when a shoot has gone so amazingly; that excitement is always there. :D

It's always really cool to catch up with Rod when I find myself touring Edinburgh - he's super cool a person and also really kind/provides a safe base for myself and other models he may be shooting with to stay if needed. Incredibly handy if you are working together for one thing because everything that you've been lugging around on your tour is already there - but also nice because it can be a super hostile life being on tour for long periods of time so it's lovely being able to have a natter on the occasional evening with fellow creatives and know that you don't have to rush off to locate some hotel in the dead of night after a shoot. Rod is star host of the highest order... I've recommended him to models personally and have nothing but massively positive things to say about the countless nights he has kindly hosted me on tour. :) He'll offer yummy munchies too and totally encourage models to make themselves at home - still haven't managed to convince him to try my crazy herbal teas yet though! And with so many different options too They don't all look like saw dust! :P

Rod ticks literally every box as someone I would rave so highly about working with when touring up this way (or even to models local to him new and established). He's got 24 carat professionalism, a heart of gold, true creative and artistic interests for his photography and is just great company/a good laugh to work with! :) His communications are always the best and when we're planning something: a few emails and it's sorted!

Thank you again so much Rod for everything!

Had a great shoot with Rod. We shot in a variety of places including his home studio, car park and some fantastic locations in the city!

The shoot was very relaxed and Rod always made sure I wasn't too cold when we were shooting outside.

He has a brilliant home studio and I would highly recommend!

I had a great shoot with Rod last week on my tour of Scotland.

I did a 4hr shoot with Rod at his lovely home in Edinburgh. Rod was very accommodating, friendly and professional throughout the shoot. Rod got a great MUA to come along too which was great as the makeup was lovely and gave the images that extra polish finish.

Rod was great fun to work with and we did a good variety of different styles from street fashion-Portraits and art nude.

Overall a really enjoyable shoot and I look forward to working with Rod again.

Thanks again.

I love working with this man! One more fantastic tour of Scotland nailed and one more really lovely stay in Edinburgh with Rod who also happens to be such great fun to shoot with as well! This was only our second shoot but it feels like we have worked together more as the rapport just clicks and the images just happen effortlessly... I simply cannot recommend enough! :D

When I was planning my travels and we were communicating, Rod kept me in the loop at all times so we could coordinate each others availability. A god-send when you are trying to make a 14 day tour flow nicely with a half logical train route. :P He offered me safe and comfortable accommodation just as before: repeated wonderful hospitality and company, also being SUPER handy for shooting at his place the following day where everything you need is right there. :) Rod's home studio is truly epic - he's got the best of both worlds with stunning natural light and then the space to create different lighting setups in a controlled environment... From fashion/portraits, glamour to kick-ass bodyscapes (it was a fair challenge trying to top what we did last time mind!) but the whole shoot was everything productive and flowed beautifully just as before. Rod is always really open and over the moon for models to contribute looks/outfits and will work to a models posing repertoire as well as give direction/suggest ideas. A really cracking eye for photography he does have along with epic technical know-how to balance the light to perfection. It really feels like a team effort working with Rod, he always strives for the best possible result from a set/concept. The back of the camera shots always look totally stunning, the edits to follow: even more so!

I have no end of good things to say about Rod... he's super cool and someone really awesome to work with for touring models. :) He'll put his hands to lighting all kinds of different genres creatively taking extra care to get the shots just right and do the models amazing justice. Kind-hearted, uber professional and of course the most welcoming hosts ever to stay with - plenty of breaks/drinks for mid-shoot, image reviews and an all-round chilled atmosphere which makes a model feel so comfortable yet buzzing for the next idea to shoot.

Always looking forward to working with Rod again in the future!

I had the best stay and shoot of my model life at Rod's house. He provided me with my own bedroom with private bathroom. I was welcomed in his house like a friend. Got a key so I could go in and out of the house at my own merit. Which was great since the Fringe was happening in Edinburgh. He was there for me to help me with anything I needed.

We also did a shoot. At which Rod was a perfect gentleman and a skilled photographer. Soon after he produced the first results of the shoot and they where lovely!

His pre-shoot communication skills where excellent. Taking extra care in providing references to make me feel safe and welcome. Helping me with directions in his city since I came from abroad.

Besides that he was great company and even ran the extra mile by taking me on a day trip through Scotland. Showing me his beautiful country. We had lots of fun hiking and even did a little shoot on top of a mountain.

I would fully reccomend Rod as a photographer and a host! He's one of the kinder souls in this world.

Thank you Rod :)

Rod is such a great person and it was an absolute pleasure to work with him and stay with him on my Scottish tour!

I am so glad that things worked out for us during the tour.

He was simply the best host and I really enjoyed spending time with him.

His home is very welcoming and I loved staying there, Rod even let me have him bedroom & bed for the week, that was so sweet of him!

We also had a little tour around Edinburgh and it was so good to see the area, I loved it in Edinburgh and cannot wait to return!

On the last day of my tour is when we worked together and it was a great way to finish off the tour (saving the best until last ;) )

We also had Rod mate called Brian tag along and really enjoyed working with them both! :D

We worked through some ideas that they had both prepared and it felt like a true collaboration as they both took my ideas and opinion on board

I really loved the images on the back of the camera and cant wait to see the final edits!

The whole week was perfect and I really do owe that to Rod and I recommend him very highly

Thanks so much Rod, until next time :D x

I had a great shoot with Rod on my Scotland tour recently!! We shot at his home which was set up really well!! He has a good deal of space so we were able to produce just as much as we would have at a studio.

Rod kindly offered to host me for my time in Scotland which I would have taken him up on had I not have already had accommodation as his home is lovely and so is he!

He was very friendly and very professional throughout! Great company with lots of interesting conversation.

We got through a great deal of sets covering portraits, nudes, athletic and classical. As well as some boudoir. We even popped out to some nearby locations and shot some cool street fashion!

A great shoot experience- one I'd love to have again and would definitely recommend Rod!

I was so pleased when Rod got in touch to express an interest in working together during my most recent tour of Scotland - we had not yet done so on my previous trips and his communications were literally the best from the word go! He gave me fantastic details of the kind of looks he wanted to capture which made my life so much easier in terms of planning what I may need; here is one photographer with a truly professional head on his shoulders and utmost courteous etiquette delivered to the people that he works with. :) What struck me from the start was the wonderful people skills/friendly and helpful approach... Rod even offered to so kindly host me the evening before our shoot to help with my tour plans and so I had a safe place to crash/camp with my thousands of bags ready for our shoot the next morning. I felt so at ease right away and the hospitality was just wonderful, I cannot stress how much I appreciated Rod's generous and supportive approach.

We worked at his lovely home studio with a view to shoot bodyscapes along with various other ideas: Rod has the best of both worlds at his place with good lighting which he knows how to use with epic skills to create different controlled effects - but also the stunning large windows make for cracking natural light opportunities as well so we had an ever such a productive time getting great use out of both! Rod has really good technical and artistic eyes for his work as well which shows, it was nice getting to see the shots in the back of the camera as they looked absolutely beautiful! Real credit to Rod for completely smashing angles and compositions to the best of his knowledge with each look - even with some of the styles we shot being quite new territory for him - he nailed it! :D The session was packed with variety and it just goes to show how much you can manage with a good team-flow and visions. Rod values the input of the models as well which is an encouraging thing to get the bounce going good.

Well I kind of lost count of the number of images I saw on the back of the camera which looked smokin' - I think the same phenomenon happened with how much chatting we managed to do! We had fun and laid-back chin wags about all sorts as we worked at it really brightened the atmosphere to get on like a house on fire. The time went by so quickly this way but the shoot itself felt relaxed with no stress; Rod really is a lovely photographer to work with and has a good heart. :) I cannot recommend him enough to my fellow models - I'm confident you will be leaving a similar reference to mine. I most certainly look forward to catching up with Rod again on future tours!

Thank you for a wonderful shoot! :D
