Creating beautiful images

It is said that Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.  I believe there's beauty in everything and everyone. 

I'm new to Purpleport but by no means new to photography. I've been wielding a camera and making my living from it for more years than I care to mention. My work is mainly commercial and some reportage and photographing people, particularly accomplished models affords me the opportunity to indulge in a degree of creativity that my 'day job' so frequently denies me.

Every picture tells a story

It's a truism that there is a story behind every picture.

For me, if a picture is to be worth anything it really should tell its story. For images that I make, I love for the viewer to see a story. I want them to be captured by the moment that the photograph was made and to interpret it, to read into it whatever their imagination can conjure. Maybe the image will will state the obvious or perhaps it will ask a question never to be answered.

There's art in the photograph

Today everyone is a photographer.

All of us, whenever we see something of interest, attend an event or maybe just see our kids stroke a dog we reach for our phones and snap the occasion. Such photos can help individuals recall moments of happiness, triumph and sometimes sadness. As such they have immense importance and each one contributes to the record of our time. But, take the expertise of a skilled photographer plus the ability and prowess of a model, combine the two and there's a recipe to take the humble snap into a whole different dimension. Their partnership and a partnership indeed it is can have the energy to spark a degree of creativity to make images that can rival even the Great Masters.
