Philosophical Zombies

I am rather obsessed with the consept of the philosophical zombie. A person that although indestinguishable from anyone else has no experience or feeling. Their body works and produces all the reactions you would expect, as if they feel joy and pain, they just don't. This is supposed to raise questions about the ghost in the machine and what makes us sentient, but I think that it also raises questions about how we connect with each other.

Is it possible to know if another person is really there? It is impossible to know if another person sees the same red that we do or tastes the same taste in their mouth? We are not psychic. Our nervous systems can not connect. The quality of our feelings can not be transmitted. Maybe that is why it is so easy to feel alone in a crowd. We are always alone inside our heads.
