Kaushal Silva of Sri Lanka takes evasive action from a Bouncer from England's Jimmy Anderson at Lord's in the Third Test in 2016. Making a Batter 'Smell the Leather' is a term used to denote Fast, Short Pitched Bowling that is meant to intimidate the Batter. At around 90 mph the ball either hits or passes so close to the head that you can actually smell the leather as it passes the nose. The West Indians call it Chin Music.
