References for Basford Hurst Cottage Photography Location

My first visit to Basford Hurst, and what a superb studio/location it is. Lots of opportunities to shoot with natural light inside and also some great rustic outbuildings and outside spaces to utilise.

My shoot was with host/model Leanne (and she is a great host), where we started inside using the lights with grids, then progressed to natural light areas… the red rustic staircase is such a great spot to shoot using natural light.

The shoot continued in the outbuilding, again using natural light generated by the windows and larger doors.

We got some very cool and contemporary shots on the day, was absolutely delighted with the results.

Can’t wait to get back there one day… it’s 10/10 from me!

I have seen so many fab images at Basford I decided to book a shoot there myself .

I was lucky enough to book Leanne for my visit who runs the studio and is a sensational model.

What an amazing studio location

The house is a wash with internal locations and pools of glorious light . The Rich tones of the wooden flooring and panneled rooms mix with the smooth contemporary feel of the room next door.

to do justice to the interior rooms alone it would take me a week to photograph a model here.

I didn’t even get to use the garden or woodland area .

But to me the jewel in the crown is the garden shed with its rustic feel OMG what a place .

I’ve photographed a few places but honestly have never come across such a universal place as good as what Basford Hurst Cottage as got to offer.

I would highly recommend this amazing studio and location .

I was so excited to visit Basford again after my last trip up north last year, and I wasn't disappointed! Two days at this fantastic location just flew by - Leanne couldn't be more helpful, accommodating or friendly and has made a creative haven for models and photographers alike. The house is stunning and boasts beautiful natural light even on overcast days, with plenty of shooting options even if the weather doesn't allow you outside. I've already booked another visit for September and can't wait to come back. Thank you so much for everything!

I had the pleasure of shooting at Basford Hurst Cottage after booking one of the studio days advertised, shooting with Sinopa Rin. It was my first time at the cottage and Leanne (owner) was on hand to provide a walk around both inside and out as well as a tour through each of the rooms. There is plenty of lighting / light modifiers on hand to use but the beautiful natural light that's available throughout the cottage lends itself for lots of artistic shots.

This was a location on my bucket list and I'm very glad to have finally shot here, I'll no doubt be returning again and have no issue in shouting praise for both the cottage and hospitality provided by Leanne - who also ensures you don't go thirsty!

If you're reading this, absolutely book up and shoot here.

Delightful! I had the joy of shooting at Basford again, this time with the wonderful hostess Leanne (Miss_C). Such a wonderful location, we shot indoors this time around the house. The big windows downstairs are just fabulous for some natural light shots, and there is plenty of space to get a variety of shots and angles. The bathroom is lovely with a lovely shape to the bath so we shot there, along with one of the light and airy bedrooms. There are so many great areas to shoot in, we only shot with a selection, as well as the fabulous grounds that I shot in last time.

And of course as you will see time and time again in the references here, Leanne is a wonderful, friendly and caring hostess and always makes shooting here a joy with her sidekick Simon also being chatty and friendly making you feel most welcome at the studio. Fantastic location and hosts, highly recommended!

Had my first shoot at Basford Hurst Cottage yesterday. Pre shoot comms were excellent as were directions, easy to find on Google maps. Was a real pleasure to meet the owners, Leanne and Simon when we got there, chatting and a few laughs too :)

The house is amazing (only shot indoors), offering plenty of different style and shoot ideas soon flowed. It's superbly set up to accommodate models and togs, a lovely changing room - Leanne had even provided a box with safety pins - shows the attention to detail and thoughtfulness :)

Shoot areas vary from big to small, well lit & dark which I love. Fab staircases too. We could not use all of the areas in our 4 hour shoot, and didn't even get to venture outside!

Big thank you to the lovely hosts, Leanne & Simon who made the day welcoming and pleasureable. Thank you for having me.

Will definately love return for more shoots in the furture

Can definately very highly recommend Basford Hurst; if you've not shot there, then you must.

Today I had the pleasure of shooting at Basford. It had been on my list of places to shoot after it opened about a year ago. I was not disappointed.

The location house offers so much opportunity, boasting superb inside and outside space.

Leanne was an amazing host. Showing us around her home, making tea and there is even copious amounts of chocolate.

The model room is perfect. So pretty, with model extras such as beauty products and the like. Even a @Welcome to Basford Elodie” sign which I thought was a really cute touch.

Thank you for having me, I look forward to coming back next month.

Goes without saying I thoroughly recommend this beautiful location.

I recently made my first trip up to Basford Hurst Cottage to shoot the wonderful Miss C. It was a welcome break for me, getting away from the studio to explore a new photographic location.

The Cottage is as described, set within some lovely woodland on a hillside, with rooms and stairways that get the creative juices flowing. We used the main room, shooting in front of the large, ornate fireplace, plus in the corner of the wood-panelled dining room, complete with red floor tiles. Once you’ve seen the Cottage and had the grand tour, you do see the possibilities for future projects.

Being a photographer that specializes in studio lighting, I did arrive with my own lighting kit, but the natural light shooter would find large windows and plenty of options outside in which to shoot.

The Cottage’s owner and host, Leanne, is delightful and made my trip very worthwhile and productive.

I shot for the third time at Basford Hurst Cottage Studio with the lovely Ayla and as always the shoot went perfectly with Leanne being the perfect host supplying the tea and kitkats and being an all round lovely person.

I'm hoping it won't be too long before I'm able to come down and work there again, it's such a fascinating and gorgeous house and location to shoot at and set in idyllic scenery.

I had my first visit to Basford yesterday for a shoot with Artemis Fauna. It really is a stunning location. The weather was a bit unpredictable so we focussed on using the beautiful indoor space and were blessed with fantastic natural light. However, I certainly plan to return and hope to explore the grounds in future. I should also say that Leanne was a wonderful host – friendly, welcoming, and helpful. All in all, highly recommended.

It is a stunning and versatile studio, with not just indoor space, but also a selection of outdoor areas too.

I definitely will be back in the summer.

I made my first visit to Basford Hurst Cottage yesterday, what a fabulous location. As a host, Leanne is incredibly organised removing the uncertainties that are usually associated with working at a new venue. The place itself is marvellous, although I was there for 5 hours, we only managed to use a fraction of the potential of the studio. I will certainly be visiting again.

I had a very creative shoot at Basford Hurst with Ivory Flame and Cariad Celis. It is a wonderful location that is full of character and has many possibilities for different types of image. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, and working there is always a joy. Very highly recommended.

2nd time shooting at Basford Hurst Cottage and I wasn't disappointed.

From the start communication and the welcome was lovely, and the outdoor area that was being worked on last time I came has come on a long way.

Considering how many shoots are done here, a lot of care and attention is clearly taken to ensure everywhere is kept clean, tidy and well presented. Everything is in its place and every room is spotless.

I especially noticed in my shots how clean the window were, it is all the attention to detail that really make it pleasant to shoot here as well as the beauty of the house.

This is someone's home so I treat it with the respect it deserves, and even after 2 half day sessions here there is still a whole lot more that I could do here.

A warm friendly welcome from the host and a beautiful home, just a joy to be here and I'm very grateful to have this beautiful place available for me to shoot in.

I've just spent two days shooting at Basford Hurst Cottage, having decided to return after a shoot last year. The house itself is full of interesting places to shoot with amazing natural light everywhere.

Unfortunately the weather was terrible so I didn't get to do much outdoors this time around but meh - all the more time to spend indoors with the wood panelling and large windows and...

This place is wonderful to shoot in, and Leanne and her partner Simon were very accommodating offering chat, tea, and most important... kitkats!

I really can't recommend Basford enough, and I will be back.

Had a shoot booked with a touring model who had to cancel due to illness the day before.

Leanne messaged me to let me know and a couple of hours later the refund was sent. Great service from a studio will definitely be booking another shoot here
