Had a great location shoot with Kris last week, Kris and Jamilla were very accommodating and great fun to shoot with, would definitely recommend shooting with a Karl, you can see that he puts everything into both his photography and enjoys what he does which makes him awesome to shoot with :)

Ok so... My reference is a LITTLE overdue my sincere apologies Kris...

Myself and Kris had been planning a shoot for a good few weeks before we shot together, pre shoot comms were great!! I worked with Kris and his lovely wife Jamilla in April, when I turned up to their house I was made to feel at home the second I walked in and was force fed biscuits throughout the day!

We shot a number of locations on the day planned by Kris and Jamilla (to which, I was kindly chauffeured around to each).

Kris is an awesome guy and extremely talented as you will see from his portfolio. He gives great direction (even when he is rolling around the floor with flowers in his hair!! Ha!)

I had a fantastic day shooting with Kris and he has created some amazing images for my portfolio.

If you get the opportunity to shoot with this guy... DO!! Highly recommend Kris and really hope to work with him again soon! :))

Thanks again Kris xxxxx

well what can I say about Kris...took part in one of his natural light workshops a few days ago and can honestly say that it was one of the best, most informative, funny, and relaxed workshops I have done and am having trouble culling the images down. Kris will hide nothing from you and will teach/help you with anything you want to know as well as guide you on what he thinks may help you.... If Carlsberg made workshops....they would be like this....

I attended Kris's natural light workshop which I enjoyed immensely. He is a natural teacher, with the day well organised and with the assistance of his lovely wife Jamilia and the beautiful model Charlottte (with 3 "t"s on PP). We each had a chance to shoot at different locations, with Kris giving demonstrations and advice, followed by a processing demonstration in his flat using LR and PS.i can safely say that I gained a lot from the day, and will keep an eye out for any further tutorials that Kris organises.

I have been a big fan of Kris' work since joining PurplePort so the decision of attending one of his Natural Light workshops wasn't very difficult. I must say I am very happy I did. Not having much previous experience working with models it was a great way for me to start this adventure! Kris shared plenty of useful information, which hopefully I will be able to put to a good use in the future. Charlottte who was the model at his workshop was brilliant too. She made it much easier for me to take some fantastic shots. Jamila was also extremely helpful, as she literally shed some light on the model :)

If anyone is considering attending Kris' workshops or working with him, I can't recommend him highly enough!

I attended Kris's latest natural light workshop last Sunday as I've wanted to attend one for a while, but they sadly clashed with other things that I had on at the time. I love his style of photography, and the workshop was very informative and helpful. Not only did we have chance to shoot the lovely Charlottte, but Kris also gave us a lot of helpful information on editing in Lightroom and Photoshop. Kris and his wife were very friendly also provided us with plenty of food and drink refreshments! I look forward to attend more in the future!

Assisted Kris with a shoot yesterday - turns out that this guy is great at bringing out the best in not only photographers but assistants too. Very new to assisting on shoots and learnt so much more, adding to my 'tool bag' for future shoots as an assistant. Refreshing to see how well he treats his models too - he has a way keeping the laughter going whilst getting fab shots and keeping the model relaxed so that they are really comfortable. He deserves a big thumbs up and cake, lots of cake :D

Kris is such a laid back, hilarious and highly enjoyable photographer to work with. My face hurt from laughing by the end of the shoot and I think so did those of the two assistants! Kris has a way of making you feel completely at ease and I think this aids him in taking the beautiful images that he never fails to produce. Kris knows exactly what he wants to achieve and is prepared to stand in ditches, sit in stinging nettles and hang off of trees to achieve it! I would recommend Kris 100% - you are guaranteed to learn something new from him, be it as a model or a photographer, and have a barrel of laughs whilst doing it!

I had a FAB little shoot with Kris organised very last minute whilst I was travelling down on the south coast. He was so easy going, humble, funny and down to earth, and really enthusiastic about working with me which was lovely. Our shoot was chilled out, shooting nudes in the forest, and fun working with billowing dresses on the super windy beach - he has a brilliant eye for an eye-catching photo and created some stunning images! Great guy, and very pleasant to work with. I can happily recommend him!! :-)

I don't think I can ever put in to words how good Kris has been to me over the past year. He is not only a fantastic photographer, producing high quality images in a 5 minute shoot demonstration, but he is a great person. I have had the honour of being his model of choice for 2 workshops now, and they have been the the most fun and insightful workshops I have attended. As both a teacher and organiser he is spot on. You can see that he puts everything into both his workshops and his photography.

I cannot recommend Kris enough, and I will never stop recommending him. He is a great reminder of everything positive within this industry and a valuable friend of mine.

Karl, a huge thank you for all the ideas and inspiration shared during your workshop. Watching you work with natural light, sharing your views on dealing respectfully with models and assistants alike, as well as your enthusiasm to help people achieve their vision was a real pleasure. You've a rare talent to pull the best out of people. All the best, Mandy

Attended another one of Kris' Natural Light workshops.

This is the second workshop I've attended of his so whilst some elements were similar to the last, it was still a very insightful day. As this was an extended workshop to include post production I picked up an awful lot of good info and tips from that section alone. I have used some of the new PP techniques and I have seen all 3 images gain more loves in 12 hours than the best image on my port has gotten in it's lifetime and 1 of them became my most viewed image overnight! That can not be a co-incidence.

Karl's choice of model for the day was spot on, and Jamila who was his assistant for the day is a photographer too so was full of help and advice too - 2 for the price of 1.

If you want a great, down to earth photographer teaching you how to shoot, book him. The only downside is that I had to share him with 5 other photographers. I think some 1:1 tuition needs to be booked with him - I'm just greedy like that. :D

Shooting with Kris today was an absolute pleasure. After we initially cancelled this morning due to the atrocious British weather we were lucky that the weather cleared up and we were able to go ahead. As we had been trying to plan a shoot for a while I am very glad we went ahead as I had a great time!

Kris is such fun to shoot with. He is laid back, hilarious and made me feel completely at ease from the moment I met him. In fact I had trouble trying to stop laughing when he was taking photos! He knows exactly what he wants to create and gave me clear direction. He even got his backside stung by nettles in his mission to get the best shot!

I really look forward to seeing the images and hope I get to work with Kris again. I would highly recommend him - thanks Kris!

I loved working with Kris so much the first time that I went back again a week later! Seriously, he's one hell of a guy - definitely in my top 5 photographers ever. Funny, laid-back yet professional: the shoot felt truly collaborative with my input being just as valued as his own. He welcomed me into his home on both occasions, made sure I was safe and warm whilst on location and even bought me pizza. The results speak for themselves, I think, and I can't wait for the next time. Thanks for putting up with me Kris!

Kris is amazingly fantastic! He is genuine (Wow right!!) and a great person to work with. His photography speaks for itself, he knows what he is doing, and from my experience with other photographers shooting outside in natural light can easily look, well... crap! But not Kris, he understands what he is shooting and his beautiful images are no fluke, its pure natural genius. I love shooting with Kris and cant wait to shoot again. If you get the opportunity to I 100% recommend working with Kris, you will be glad you did!

Aside from his disgusting sense of humour, penchant for making models roll around on the sand in the pouring rain and frankly terrifying taste in music, I guess Kris is alright. I mean, he took on my ideas as well as suggesting his own, bought me cake, supplied me with tea, had my face aching from laughing so much and made me look pretty good in the process. Yeah, he's ok. I'd probably even go back if he asked me reeaaaally nicely.

I was so excited to work with Kris again after a shoot we collaborated on last year.

He and his lovely wife Jamila invited me down to their home in Littlehampton and from the minute I walked in the door I felt completely at ease.

They were incredible hosts and the weekend was fantastic.

Kris is without question one of the most talented photographers I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and refreshingly, is not in the slightest bit arrogant about it.

He treats his models with respect, kindness and has the best sense of humor I've ever come across- I don't actually think I stopped laughing all weekend.

Kris makes it very easy for the model to collaborate creatively on the shoot. The images, as usual were amazing and I can't wait to work with him again very soon!

Easily recommended without any reservation!

Thank you Kris!

I really enjoyed Kris's workshop yesterday. He was very informative on natural daylight photography and learnt a lot in a short space of time. Charlotte was a lovely model and Jamilla was very helpful in the use of reflectors as well as making cups of coffee. I can only add to what has been said already in that you would benefit by attending one of Kris's workshops as I found it very helpful. Thanks again Kris.
