My first workshop with Kris was a hugely enjoyable and enlightening experience. Kris talks from the heart, is a brilliant communicator and has a great sense of humour. Kris' teaching ability is superb- a wide range of studio setups were demonstrated, and whilst technical aspects were discussed, Kris was able to make every situation something which I would be confident of replicating in the future.

I look forward to attending future workshops with Kris. Not only is Kris a magnificent photographer and teacher, his philosophy on life and photography is genuinely refreshing.

I've just had a great workshop with Kris. He is brilliant and really motivational, showed us several studio lighting setups with a detailed explanation of the reason he added each light. The way he is talking about photography and the way he approaches the industry is very informative and passionate, I truly believe he added a lot to my knowledge and gave me a push to continue to keep going to be a better photographer.

Everybody who were with him were really helpful, especially Jamila. Thank you.

I had another good shoot with Kris at his home studio. It was a last minute arrangement as we were free on the bank holiday Monday so it was only arranged the night before! But was easy to arrange as Kris was fast with communication and organised with what he wanted so I knew what clothing to take along. In a review bellow someone has mentioned Kris has a no nonsense way of working and I think that is a great description! Plus Kris has a great taste in music which is always a bonus :)

Having just completed a Studio Workshop with Carla Monaco at the Scarlett Door Studio in Bracknell I can most definitely say Kris is absolutely up there with the best of them! Knowledgable and Talented but also knows how to share his skills in a way that makes it easy for others to learn from him.

Personality wise, he was right at the front of the queue when these were handed out! I may have mentioned on the day if ever he fancies a change from Photography he'd make a great stage act!

Backed up by his lovely Wife Jamila the whole day was an experience not to be missed and I would strongly recommend this to any Photographer be it an experience pro or someone just starting out. If you are willing to open your mind to learn, this guy has a wealth of information to share with you!

Kris and Jamila, thank you very much!

Had a great time on a recent workshop run by Kris, who was a great mentor and easy to work with. Took away a lot that I'll be using in all aspects of my Photography.

Kris was running a natural light group workshop in Yorkshire this past weekend, and I really enjoyed it. He has a clear, no-nonsense way of explaining why he would shoot a certain way in a given scenario and proves it works, before giving us plenty of time to try it out ourselves. He encouraged photographers to help and assist each other which further helped us understand what to look for and how to light a subject in certain conditions.

Kris was a great teacher and I certainly plan of working with him again. His advice and feedback were really useful in helping me think about ways t improve my shooting style and portfolio.

Thanks again for an awesome weekend, mate!

Travelled 3 hours to work with this talented photographer and I'm glad I did, already had some awesome images back from our shoot! Kris is welcoming and friendly and a good laugh to work with, but professional at the same time. Thank you for a good shoot. Highly recommended!

I have worked with Kris many times, and honestly, I always have a great time :) I have worked with him on a 1:1 tuition basis, and today I attended his High Fashion Workshop at Lyons Studio. He is a very knowledgeable photographer, who is both professional, creative and brilliant. He has a fantastic sense of humour, and puts you at ease immediately. He is a brilliant teacher too. He strips photography down to its basics, and helps you achieve exactly what you want. He offers guidance on lighting, models and the industry, and I cannot recommend him highly enough for tuition. He has taught me everything I know about photography and I have already booked in for my next workshop and 1:1! :)

Thanks Kris! Keep up the fab work! :)

A kind of double reference for Mr Kris Karl here...

A few weeks ago Kris shot me for his Osten series- something I had admired but never thought I would be suitable for...So I asked him one day if I was... he said yes and hey presto! Kris and Jamila came up to mine, I did my makeup as best I could, got some Henna done, they blinged me up and Kris took some fabulous images! I really do love them and they are so different and beautiful :)

Second...Just today we met up again- this time down in Kent/ East Sussex and spent the day shooting on location- with a cheeky bit of lunch thrown in too! We shot some boho fashion, headshots and beachy stuff (despite not so great weather conditions) and got, yet again, some amazing images. I must return down his way when it's a bit warmer to get those bikini shots-! ;)

Each and every time is awesome fun, results are guaranteed and so is laughter. Kris is laid back, but he knows his stuff. Kris and Jamila have become bloody great friends of mine and I can't recommend them both highly enough. Can't wait to see you guys again! :)

I finally got to work with Kris and his lovely wife last weekend at their place in Littlehampton last weekend.

Kris is probably the funniest photographer I’ve ever worked with :D we chatted about everything throughout the shoot and had some real laugh, I couldn’t keep my face serious at some point as we were laughing.

Kris is not just hilarious but he’s also down to Earth, professional and awesomely talented. We shot just about an hour and half on a lovely location on the beach but we’ve got some really amazing photos and I’m loving the results, especially the double-exposure image is very impressive as it was done from the camera.

I’ve also got to join them both with some yummy pizza during the shoot. Kris is also good at blowing hair with a hair dryer while Jamila and I was shooting :D

I was supposed to shoot with Kris on location and with Jamila in studio but in the end we also managed to have some quick studio shots with Kris and I really can’t wait to see them.

Working with Kris is such a joy. He’s confident and of course knows what’s he doing. I have already recommended other photographers to book Kris’s workshop to learn some real natural lighting skills.

I will also highly recommend him to other models, designers, MUAs... and I would love to work with him again in the future.

Thanks again for a fun shoot Kris! X

Kris represents all that is good with our little community.

I attended his last Outdoor Shooting workshop in Sunny (and rainy too!) Littlehampton to pick up some new tricks on shooting and post processing.

Kris was authoritative, friendly, funny, instructive and willing to pass on his own knowledge gained from years of hard work and practice.

A great photographer in his own right, he is also a good teacher (not often the same thing) who can genuinely get across concepts and improve your outlook as, contrary to the cool hipster photographer persona, he deeply cares about his work and for his students.

Very highly recommended.

I attended another natural light course with Kris and Jamila, I can't stop saying positive things about Kris & Jamila. They show a clear path of how to achieve a great image from what camera equipment to use, lenses and most importantly what settings to use and understanding why they are used. The last part of the day is used for editing and this is an area I most struggled with before meeting Kris, the video that is provided with the course as well gives clear direction and a clear path to atchieve consistent images.

If you need to improve your knowledge of photography and more importantly your understanding then you need to attend a workshop or one to one training with Kris.

To say I enjoy working with Kris would be an understatement. He is brilliantly encouraging, creative, patient and he continually inspires me to better my photography. I attended his natural light workshop on Sunday and it was absolutely fantastic. Kris understands every element of achieving the right photograph, and I don't think I'll ever stop learning from him. A truly great guy! x

I went over to Littlehampton to shoot with Kris a few weeks ago. I had shot with him once a few years back even he was starting out and he was good then. Nowadays his photography excels and his passion for it is intense. He has lots of awesome mood boards of different styles and gave me a couple of photographers to look up and get inspired by their work. We got through lots of different sets of varying styles, Kris is hilarious so it made for a relaxed and funny yet productive shoot. I love the pictures and would have no problem in recommending him to anyone. Thanks!

Booked Kris for 1 to 1 tuition, and I don't regret it! Kris is very knowledgeable, and extremely patient. He really understands the process and is brilliant at explaining and showing it. He takes the time to understand what you want to achieve, and helps you get there with ease. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher, for both photography and post-processing. He's also a hilarious guy with a fantastic sense of humour. He made me feel immediately at ease, and I will definitely be booking more time with him! Thanks Kris!

My journey with Kris started in November 14. Due to bad weather the natural light workshop was canceled, Kris kindly offered a refund or another date on his next workshop. I chose for Kris to carry out a portfolio cretic and way to streamline my photography. Kris identified my strengths and weaknesses and created a way forward to progress and set goals to achieve. It seamed a huge mountain to climb but at each stage Kris reasured me and showed me the way forward. I also chose a great model in Jammy Lou who was as equally as helpful and professional as Kris, if anyone is looking to improve their photografic skills or need direction in their journey of photography I would certainly highly recommend Kris and Jammy Lou.

I worked with Kris Karl on an evening workshop recently, it is always a pleasure to work with him and he keeps a constant flow of jokes which keeps everyone happy and relaxed. Kris is a great teacher and made sure everyone in the group was getting a good range of photos with awesome lighting. He also made sure I was happy and was very understanding about me being slightly late due to a last minute house flood! Great guy, amazing photographer, highly recommended.

Natural light workshop.

I was invited to attend a natural light workshop with Kris Karl, which is an area that I have struggled in alot to create consistant images. I turned up to a warm welcome from Kris and Jamila, Kris started the day with a look through his portfolio and describing how the day was set out for us. We then ventured outside and started with talk on exactly how to achieve good images and what pitfalls to look for. After a day of shooting using various modifiers and technics we headed back to Kris's house where he went through a detailed step by step process of processing the image. I personally found the course very helpful and informative. If you have any problems or struggle in this area then a workshop with Kris is time and money well spent. Highly recommend Kris to help you.

Just spent a fantastic day with Kris at his Natural Light workshop. I learnt so much about using simple but effective steps to make the most of the natural light, using reflectors etc and processing the photos afterwards. Would very much recommend this workshop to anyone - novice or professional - who wants to take his work outside the studio.

A big thank you Kris - your loyal assistant (wife) :D and to the lovely model (forgot her name) - who made the day so great.

This is a reference you should read, if you’re a photographer thinking of booking a place on one of Kris’s workshops.

BOOK IT NOW!!!!!

It’s now about a month since I was on the workshop, and I’m writing this because I had a fairly challenging shoot yesterday, on which I found myself using two techniques that I picked up from him. As well as the useful instruction on location, he also gave a really useful run through his Lightroom work flow, and then sent us all a tuition video based on that.

I could go on about how easy he is to get on with, and the relaxed atmosphere that gave to the group on the day, but this is probably quite long enough already. Just book it.
